The University was established on 29th September, 1981 by an act called the Vidyasagar University Act 1981 (West Bengal Act XVIII of 1981) after the name of Pandit Iswar Chandra Bandyopadhyay, known as Vidyasagar, the educationist and social worker of Bengal. The University Grants Commission accorded recognition to the University under 12B on March 1, 1990. The Vidyasagar University is established with a mission to provide an answer to the needs of the region, ethnic, socio – cultural and geographical along with mainstream education. The University is also recognised by Distance Education Council (DEC), New Delhi.

Carreograph is affiliated under Vidyasagar University to conduct UGC approved MBA of two years. 
 

MBA
The Two years MBA is a UGC designed management programme. This course covers the basic fundamentals of management practice that can be taught to a student through academic mode within the classroom environment. This curriculum is very rich in terms of academic inputs and gives a solid foundation of management principles to the young graduate participants.

The MBA programme comprises of 4 semesters of 6 months each. In every semester students have to learn 6 different papers of 100 marks each. Minimum 30 hours of academic interactions will be provided per paper per semester amounting to minimum of 180 hours of classroom session per semester for the MBA programme only. Separate class hours are allotted for programme PGPM.

PGPM
Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) is an autonomous programme designed by Carreograph Institute of Management Studies.

The objective of PGPM is to bridge the gap between the academic curriculum of MBA and the industry expectations. The PGPM programme will empower a candidate with basics of soft skills, interpersonal skills, leadership abilities, time management, communication skills, objection handling, entrepreneurship qualities and skills of winning the interview board.

MBA - UGC awarded post graduate degree that qualifies a candidate for good jobs and better openings, both in corporate and government sector.

PGPM - An autonomous skill development programme that increases the employability potential of a candidate.

MBA+PGPM - A UGC awarded post graduate degree in management along with the basic orientations of personality development and interview techniques, both of which synergistically helps to win the interview board and get a good job.

Candidates seeking admission to regular MBA+PGPM course will have to undergo CST (Carreograph Screening Test). Candidates with valid scores of CAT, MAT, JMAT will also be considered. Final year students taking admission have to produce their Graduation results within 6 months from the date of admission.

Mode of Payments

Payment is accepted by demand draft drawn in favour of Carreograph Institute of Management Studies, payable at Kolkata only.

Semester-wise examination will be held twice a year, generally in the months of February and August as to be notified by the Controller of Examinations, Vidyasagar University. 

Students will be awarded overall grades on the basis of the aggregate marks obtained by them at the semester examinations.

• In order to pass in written examination in any paper a student must obtain at least 30% marks in the paper and 40% in semester aggregate.

• In order to be eligible for the degree a student must pass in all the individual papers including Project Work and Grand Viva. The components of examination for each paper will be as follows:
  - Answer to Home Assignments together with class performance and attendance, 20% weightage
  - Semester Examination – 80% weightage

• A student who fails in any paper will be eligible to appear in a supplementary examination in the related paper provided he does not fail in more than two papers in a particular semester examination. But such opportunity will be given only once, that is, at the supplementary examination just following the related semester examination.

• A student, who secures less than 30% marks in any paper in a particular semester examination, will be required to appear again at the papers of that semester at the following examination of that semester. But he/she will be given only one such chance.

• A student, who does become eligible for appearing at the due semester examination, will be given only one chance to appear in the following examination of that semester provided in the mean time he/she fulfills the eligibility requirements.

Award of MBA Degree
Students will be awarded the degree by Vidyasagar University on the basis of results of all the semester examinations concerning the MBA course.

Award of PGPM – Students will be awarded PGPM autonomously by Carreograph on the basis of results of all the semester examinations concerning the PGPM course.
